All MPX ENGINE features
In short
MPX ENGINE is quoting and cost-estimating software for aerospace subcontractors. It digitizes the real work of the aerospace estimator, from the RFQ package received from the prime to the quote sent back to the customer. It reads the package, builds the bill of materials, estimates machining times from the 3D model, sizes and nests the raw stock, prepares supplier requests for quotation and generates the quote. It installs on the subcontractor's own server: no data ever leaves the building.
Founded by Alex Barbier, 20 years in precision aerospace machining. Published by MPX BOOSTER LLC (St. Petersburg, Florida) for North America and by MPX ENGINE SAS (Paris) for Europe.

End-to-end RFQ management
MPX ENGINE centralizes every request for quotation received from your customers, and tracks each one from receipt to response.
- Guided RFQ creation: customer, RFQ reference, date received, response due date, site in charge, sales owner, currency.
- Bid / No-Bid decision and commercial interest rated from 1 to 5, adjustable part by part.
- Progress by function (methods, purchasing, quote), time left before the deadline, open alerts.
- Management dashboard: conversion rate, revenue won, pipeline, average response time, overdue quotes.
- Performance view: the time spent at each step of the quote, and the step that slows your responses down.
- Multi-site: every RFQ is assigned to a site, and all your sites roll up into a single view.
- Built-in messaging attached to the RFQ: the conversation stays with the file.
Automatic extraction of RFQ packages (bill of materials / BOM)
MPX ENGINE reads the customer's RFQ package and builds the bill of materials for the estimator, with no re-keying.
- Documents read: RFQ PDFs, bills of materials, vector drawings, scanned drawings (TIFF, PNG, JPG), STEP 3D models, CATIA files (automatically converted to STEP and PDF).
- Recognition of the customer that issued the part numbers.
- Multi-level BOM rebuilt: top-level parts, sub-assemblies, standard parts, quantities, revisions.
- Every document linked to the right part: drawing, 3D, BOM.
- Material, surface treatments and special processes recognized and matched to your catalog.
- Estimator validation: a review table with alerts (unrecognized material, missing document). You stay in control.
- Native extractors per customer: Airbus (A320, A330/A340, A350, A380), Airbus Canada (A220), Bombardier, Dassault Aviation, Liebherr Aerospace, Safran Nacelles, Sonaca, Stelia / Airbus Atlantic. Your customer isn't listed? We build its extractor.
Machining time prediction from the 3D model
MPX ENGINE estimates a part's machining time from its STEP file, learning from your shop's history.
- 3D geometry analysis: dimensions, volumes, faces, holes.
- Estimated time with a range and a confidence level.
- Similar parts from your history shown alongside, with their actual times: you validate the estimate by comparison.
- Dedicated models per material and part family (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, Inconel, steel).
- Shop-floor feedback loop: the actual time spent is entered and compared with the prediction, and outliers are set aside by a methods engineer. The model gets sharper on your parts.
- Standalone estimate for a quick costing outside an RFQ, or built into the part within the RFQ.
Methods: technical data, routing and 3D viewer
MPX ENGINE brings together on a single screen everything the methods engineer looks at to cost a part.
- Part record: identity, revision, classification, make or buy, machining type (milling, turning, mill-turn, assembly).
- Aerospace material catalog: alloys, tempers, specifications (including the customers' material standards), densities, alternative materials.
- Surface treatments and special processes attached to the part.
- 3D viewer in the browser, no CAD license needed.
- Manufacturing routing: operations, activities, machines, hourly rates, reusable routing templates.
- Programs and rates: yearly quantities for a production part.
Stock sizing, nesting and cutting planNew
MPX ENGINE sizes the raw stock blank of each part from its 3D model, then nests several parts in the same blank to cut the material you buy.
- Blank calculated from the 3D: plate or bar, part orientation, machining allowances, weight of the blank, chips and offcuts.
- Several nesting modes, compared side by side: single part, grid, head-to-tail with an angled cut of the blank, and an optimized mode on the part's real outline, with several proposals to choose from.
- Material savings shown: the overconsumption of each solution, in plain terms.
- Purchasing in blanks: the quantity of material to order is calculated in blanks, and the per-part price flows all the way to the customer quote.
- Shop-ready cutting plan: a dimensioned PDF (in mm or inches, depending on the part) and a DXF for the saw or the cutting machine.
- History kept: the blank and nesting choice stays attached to the part number, ready for the next quote.
Purchasing: supplier RFQs and price history
MPX ENGINE prepares requests for quotation to suppliers from the bill of materials, and remembers every price paid.
- Three supplier RFQs generated automatically: raw material, outside processing (treatments and special processes), purchased parts.
- Supplier package ready to send: a spreadsheet plus the part files in an archive, and the quotes received re-imported in one click.
- Supplier quote comparison and selection of the winning quote.
- Purchase price history shared across all your sites: reuse a past quote in one click.
- Internal reference price when the supplier hasn't answered yet.
- RFQ versions: when the methods change, the supplier RFQ is regenerated and the history is kept.
Costing, margins and customer quote
MPX ENGINE calculates the selling price from times, material and purchases, then generates the quote.
- Full cost per part and per quantity break.
- Margins and additional costs: freight, customs, packaging.
- Non-recurring costs (NRE / NRC): methods, purchasing and additional costs, always kept separate from the recurring price.
- Production programs and one-off jobs: multi-year revenue projection for a program, quantity breaks for a non-recurring job.
- Customer quote generated as a document, with a revision index and the change history.
- Customer outcome: won, or lost with the reason and the competitor's price. The dashboard learns from every answer.
Installed on your premises, securely
MPX ENGINE is on-premise software: it runs on a server at the subcontractor's site, not in the cloud.
- No data leaves your building: RFQ packages, parts, prices and history stay on your server.
- Runs without an internet connection, except for license verification.
- 100% remote deployment, on your server or on a server supplied by MPX.
- Web browser access, accounts and permissions managed by your administrator, roles by function (estimator, methods engineer, buyer, sales, management).
- Interface in French and English, metric and imperial units, multiple currencies.

- Multi-site groups that want the same quoting method everywhere, and a single view for management.
- The roles: estimator, methods engineer, buyer, sales, management.
Frequently asked questions
Is MPX ENGINE cloud software?
No. It is installed on a server at the subcontractor's site (on-premise), and the data never leaves the company.
Which files can MPX ENGINE read?
Native PDFs, scanned drawings (TIFF, PNG, JPG), STEP 3D models and CATIA files.
Is my customer supported?
Airbus, Airbus Canada, Bombardier, Dassault Aviation, Liebherr Aerospace, Safran Nacelles, Sonaca and Stelia / Airbus Atlantic have a native extractor. For other customers, we build yours from your RFQ packages.
How does MPX ENGINE predict a machining time?
From the geometry of the 3D model, with models trained on the history of your parts and refined with your shop's actual times.
Does MPX ENGINE nest parts in raw stock blanks?
Yes. It nests several parts in the same blank (grid, head-to-tail or optimized mode), shows the material savings, and produces the cutting plan as PDF and DXF.
Does MPX ENGINE replace my ERP?
No. It covers quoting and technical intelligence, between the ERP and CAM.
How long does installation take?
It is done entirely remotely, and we train your team until it is self-sufficient.
How much does MPX ENGINE cost?
Pricing is presented during a conversation with Alex Barbier. It depends on the number of active users, not on the number of sites.
Does MPX ENGINE work across multiple sites?
Yes. Every RFQ is assigned to a site, the purchase history is shared, and management sees all sites in a single view.
